XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) is an XML-based, royalty-free, open standard for business reporting.
The main objectives are to increase the accuracy, the transparency and the efficiency of internal and external business reporting.
XBRL is developed and maintained by XBRL International, a non-for-profit consortium of over 450 leading companies and organisationsaround the world. Further details are available at XBRL International site www.xbrl.org
XBRL International is relying on national XBRL jurisdictions promoting the development and the use of XBRL in their respective territories.
XBRL Luxembourg a.s.b.l. is a non-for-profit association of some 20 leading organisations and companies in Luxembourg that are either using XBRL or delivering services around the XBRL technology.
The role of XBRL Luxembourg is to increase ther awareness, knowledge and understanding of XBRL and its uses in the Luxembourg economy. By supporting and coordinating the various XBRL projects and especially the creation of taxonomies, XBRL Luxembourg is stimulating and accelerating the adoption of XBRL in the various reporting channels in Luxembourg.
